Volunteer Information

Volunteer Overview

Join 17,000 adult volunteers in Eastern Massachusetts. Together we provide an unforgettable opportunity for girls to develop the knowledge and skills needed to develop courage, confidence, and character to make this world a better place.  And we have fun doing it.

Parents
If you would like to work part time with a troop, there usually are opportunities to assist during a meeting, drive on field trips, or help with fundraising during the cookie sales and other events.  Contact your Troop Leader to see how you may help. Parents working with girls or funds are required to register as a volunteer.

Become a Leader, Assistant Leader, Camp Trainer
If you are the type who enjoys working directly with the scouts, these positions are for you. It's rewarding to see girls develop throughout the years as you provide more and more challenging opportunities for them. Training is provided for all positions and resource materials. All volunteers should attend the following courses:

Girl Scout Orientation
Leadership Essentials
Program Level Workshop (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador)

Some of the special interest courses include training for first aid, caming, games, leadership, and canoeing. A full list is availalble at www.girlscoutseasternmass.org.

Become a Facilitator or Committee Member
If your passion is working with other adults, consider facilitating adult training sessions or working with the volunteers in town on special committees including fund raising events, registration, and web devlopment.

First Steps as a Volunteer
Individuals wanting to become a Girl Scout volunteer must submit an application and three personal references. Criminal background checks are performed for all leaders. The applications, background checks and references are thoroughly checked before a person is permitted to work with Girl Scouts. Contact any of the volunteers on the Contact Us page to get started today.
