Girls work on crafts at Fall RegistrationOpen House and Registration Sunday, September 18, 2011

Every September, Hingham Girl Scouts hold an open house for new registrations. There are activities for the girls while parents meet with leaders and other Girl Scout parents and complete the registration forms.

It takes about 4 to 6 weeks after the open house to form new troops and provide training for new leaders.

Missed the Open House?

New troops generally are formed in September/October, but registration is open year-round.  As the year progresses, the registrar will make every effort to place new girls in existing troops.  To register, download and print these forms:

1.   Complete a “Girl Registration” form.
2.   Complete an “Adult Registration” form if you will be helping the troop in any way during the troop year including leading the troop, helping at meetings, driving girls or handling troop funds.
3.   Registration Fees:  $12 for the year for each girl, and $12 for each adult, payable to “GSEM.”  These fees go to Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts to cover administrative costs and insurance.  Once your daughter is placed in a troop, she probably will be asked to pay modest dues to the troop to support the troop’s activities.  Troop dues vary and are determined by the troop leader.
4.   Complete the “Troop Placement” form.  Here, state any preferences you have as far as meeting times, friends you would like your daughter placed with, etc.  The registrar and troop leaders will do their best to accommodate these requests.  Also, please note whether you will be able to assist the troop or town organization and in what capacity.  Please consider volunteering as a troop leader or assistant!  Girl Scout troops cannot function without parent volunteers; there can only be as many troops as there are parents willing and able to run them.
5.  Mail the forms to the Girl Scout House at 26 Burr Road, Hingham, MA  02043.

Returning Girl Scouts

In April and May, Troop Leaders collect registration forms and $12 for all girls planning to return in the fall. Contact your Troop Leader to find out if you are already registered for the coming year.

Non-Troop Registrations /Juliettes

Girls may register as an independent Girl Scout, called a "Juliette."  Juliettes work independently on badges and projects, may attend town-wide events, and are eligible to attend summer camp and all Girl Scout programs. To register as an individual girl, mark your registration form as "Juliette". You will be assigned to Troop "70702".

Transfers

Girls may transfer between troops or become an independent Girl Scout. Troop Leaders should contact the Registrar to complete the transfer.  Transfer forms are no longer required.
