Troop 74821 raised $540 in their neighborhoods by planting fall bulbs and selling bead and duct tape jewelry. They then purchased food and donated to the Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry over the holidays.
Hingham — If you were asked to predict what baked the best chocolate chip cookies using the least amount of energy, would you choose an Easy Bake oven, a conventional oven, or a wine box oven, made from cardboard covered in aluminum foil and heated with charcoal briquettes? That was the challenge put to the 10 fifth-grade girls of Hingham Girl Scout Troop 74837 by its troop leaders, Alison Baird and Michelle Lifton. The baking challenge didn’t come up to earn a badge in baking, however. According to Baird, within the last couple years, Girl Scouts of America’s revamped its badge system.
